Playboy’s Rare Hare Spirits To Release Limited Edition 1953 Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Last Updated on June 28, 2022 by Lydia Martin

As a tribute to the year Playboy was founded, Rare Hare Bourbon’s inaugural whiskey release is coming to the market soon – aptly called the “1953.” The new Rare Hare expressions collaborate with artisan producers, sommeliers, and blenders to provide new releases from the popular lifestyle brand.

The Rare Hare spirits [1] are meticulously bottled in Memphis, Tennessee, and individually numbered. Each comes in a customized box with near-field communication (NFC) technology.

The NFC chip grants the 1953 bottle owners exclusive access to the Rare Hare Society, where they can experience private events, luxury travel, and private barrel releases, among others.

Bottled at 111 proof or 55.5% ABV, this 17-year-old straight bourbon whiskey is finished in XXO Cognac casks from the Champagne region of France. It embodies the boldness, passion, experience, and sophistication of Playboy Spirits.

“Passion and sophistication are the foundation of the Rare Hare brand and our spirits collection,” said Marc Bushala, CEO of Spirit Investment Partners.

Playboy Spirits is a joint venture of Spirit Investment Partners and PLBY Group.

“The ‘1953 Anniversary Edition’ is an incredible bourbon unlike any other and worthy of being the inaugural whiskey release for Rare Hare,” Bushala adds.

The Rare Hare Brand is expected to offer a selection of premium spirits in various markets worldwide, starting with the US, Europe, and the Asia Pacific.

To the nose, you’ll discover specific aromas of dried fruits, light clove and caramelized nectarine. On the palate, there are light herbal notes and creamed corn with heightened baking spices and light oak. The finish is long-lasting with caramel and a touch of nutmeg.

With only 1,953 bottles made for the US market, Rare Hare 1953 is currently available for pre-order at select retail locations and online.

The suggested retail price for this straight bourbon whiskey is $589 for the 700 ml bottle.
