Description
Nose
Take a deep sniff and you’ll be greeted by a wave of orchard fruits. Imagine ripe peaches, pears, and maybe even a hint of tropical melon. But lurking beneath that sweetness is a smoky presence – think aromatic wood smoke or smoldering peat embers, not overpowering but definitely noticeable. Some tasters also detect a touch of honey, infused with that smoky character, creating a unique and inviting aroma.
Palate
The initial sip delivers a burst of those sweet orchard fruits again, perhaps with a hint of applewood coming to the forefront. Don’t be fooled though, the smoke soon joins the party, weaving itself in with the sweetness. It’s not a harsh or medicinal smoke, but more of a gentle, lingering campfire smoke or smoked spices like cinnamon and ginger. The influence of the casks comes through too, with hints of vanilla and caramel from the bourbon barrels, and maybe even a whisper of tropical fruit from the Jamaican rum casks.
Finish
The finish is where the balance between smoke and sweetness truly shines. It’s long and lingering, with the smoky embers slowly fading but leaving a pleasant warmth behind. The sweetness of the fruit and a touch of vanilla from the casks linger as well, creating a harmonious and satisfying conclusion to the experience.
