Description
Eifel’s Single Malt Whisky is a unique expression crafted by a small German distillery. This whisky utilizes a two-step maturation process. First, the spirit spends at least four years in ex-Bordeaux American oak casks, imparting vanilla, caramel, and subtle spice notes. Following this, it matures for an additional four years in first and second fill cream sherry casks. This secondary maturation adds a layer of complexity with dried fruit (raisin, cherry), nutty character, and a hint of cinnamon spice.
Taste Profile
Nose: Expect a vibrant aroma with floral notes, perhaps hints of citrus like Meyer lemon or apricot, alongside a touch of sweetness reminiscent of simple syrup.
Palate: The initial sweetness from the nose gives way to a bolder character on the palate. Look for flavors of earth, oak, truffle (savory, earthy), and a touch of green peppercorn for a peppery bite. Brine can also be present, adding a touch of minerality.
Finish: The finish is likely to be medium-length, lingering with earthy tones and a touch of lemon zest.
