The Balvenie Distillery recently released The Balvenie Rare Marriages Range in the US – a collection of three distinct single malt Scotch whiskies, initially matured separately in European and American oak casks.
Subsequently married together in larger oak tuns, this whisky range gets a unique flavor profile over decades of monitored maturation.
The Rare Marriages whisky range comes under the craftsmanship of Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE, who carefully picked The Balvenie’s [1] rarest and oldest traditional casks to create the elaborately balanced tasting profiles of the spirit.
The collection includes The Balvenie Twenty-Five, The Balvenie Thirty, and The Balvenie Forty.
“The Balvenie Rare Marriages Range is designed to unveil the intricacies of our whisky in a bold marriage of extraordinary character,” Stewart remarked. “This whisky range, made from casks that have stood the important test of time, has a distinct profile and experience which we have designed to reveal the wonderful depth of The Balvenie Single Malt.”
The Balvenie Twenty-Five, bottled at 48% ABV, is sold for around $799.99. It has a complex fruity expression with raw cane sugar and crystallized ginger on the nose. The tasting notes include bold vanilla flavors and cinnamon-infused apple tart with a long-lasting sweet finish.
Meanwhile, The Balvenie Thirty, bottled at 44.2% ABV, is priced at around $2,400. You’ll find warm dark chocolate, plums, caramelized pear, and marzipan on the palate. On the nose, it’s smooth and oaky with hints of candied orange.
Finally, The Balvenie Forty, bottled at a cask strength of 48.5% ABV, is sold for roughly $6,750. It has the boldest expression in the range and holds an intense flavor of orange blossom, ginger, oak, and vanilla. Packaged in an oak-based structure, this spirit’s finish is elegant, warm, and rich.
The Balvenie Rare Marriages Range is now available across the US, but supplies are fairly limited.
