Patrón Ahumado Silver is a blanco tequila with a smoke step: agave roasted over mesquite charcoal in underground stone pits, then tahona-crushed, bottled at 41% ABV / 82 proof on the 2024 catalog row. Still tequila, still NOM 1492 territory, still Jalisco — not mezcal. One point above core Silver. Hub: Patrón.

What the bottle actually is
Ahumado means smoked. The house brief: seven days in underground pits, 100% tahona. That is process copy, not a CRT smoke-class. It remains tequila because the agave is cooked and distilled under tequila rules in the appellation. Mezcal is a different denomination. We did not get a 2026 official tile for the 41%; treat it as the catalog figure and read the neck.
A 1.5-ounce pour at 41% is about 1.03 standard drinks. Close enough that people will call it “the same as Silver.” It is not the same liquid.
Lab notes
Nose: cooked agave, then mesquite — campfire, not peat. Palate: smoke that lingers, still smooth enough to read as Patrón. Finish: black pepper. Rewritten from three one-word house bullets. If you want a smoked-agave sip and you do not want mezcal, this is the SKU the catalog was selling in 2024.
