There is no official best rum for eggnog. US rum is a US type.147 at 40% or more. White, gold, and dark are color words, not classes. Taste talk is bar English. Typical US bottles print 40% Jamaica GI 37.5% floor unused as a TTB class. A 1.5-ounce pour at 40% is one NIAAA drink, in the nog or neat.
