Updated March 2026.
Campari is a bitter liqueur. Vermouth is fortified, aromatized wine. They are not two proofs of one aperitif. US Campari is typically 24% ABV on retailer tiles — brand pages often omit the number. Vermouth is often 15–18%. A 1.5-ounce 24% Campari pour is 0.60 of a drink; 16% vermouth is 0.40. The IBA Negroni uses both.
Sweet vermouth is the Negroni / Manhattan bottle. Dry vermouth is the Martini bottle. Related: Campari vs Aperol, sweet vs dry vermouth, IBA drink math.
