Updated April 2026.
Casamigos Blanco and Don Julio Blanco both print 40% ABV on current brand pages — one NIAAA drink per 1.5-ounce pour. They are not the same NOM. Current Casamigos bottles we can document are NOM 1609 (Diageo México Operaciones). Older Casamigos lots were NOM 1416. Don Julio is reported at NOM 1449 (Tequila Tres Magueyes / the same Diageo México operations group). Both brands are Diageo. “Better” is not a CRT score.
Reposado and añejo add oak time, not extra proof on typical US necks. Related: Casamigos, Don Julio, Casamigos vs Patrón.
Same proof, different NOM
| Casamigos Blanco | Don Julio Blanco | |
|---|---|---|
| US ABV | 40% (brand page) | 40% (brand page) |
| 1.5 oz drinks | 1.00 | 1.00 |
| Current NOM | 1609 (as of 2026 docs) | 1449 (trade / CRT rows) |
| Historical NOM | 1416 on older lots | Same 1449 line |
| Owner | Diageo (2017 purchase) | Diageo |
A 750 mL of either flagship is about 17 drinks. Four pours are four drinks. NIAAA binge pattern is a health line, not a target. No 2026 MSRP. Pour math: tequila drinks.
