Twisted Tea Original is 5% ABV. A 12-ounce can or bottle is one US standard drink — the same ethanol as a 12-ounce 5% beer or a 1.5-ounce 80-proof vodka shot. Half & Half is also 5%. Light is 4%. Extreme is 8%. A 24-ounce Original tallboy is two standard drinks. How many until you feel drunk is not a can count. This page is conversion math, not a dare.
Twisted Tea is a flavored malt beverage made with real brewed tea and lemon flavor (official product copy). It is not vodka iced tea, even though older copy on this URL said “a bit of vodka.” The alcohol comes from malt fermentation, which is why it lives in the beer cooler and follows beer off-sale hours at gas stations.

Why “drunk at 3–5 teas” is not an answer
Flight Wine Bar, juicer guides, and BAC calculators lead with “3 to 5 regular cans” or “a 176-pound man is drunk at 4.” That is a challenge dressed as a table. Four Originals in two hours are four standard drinks — NIAAA’s binge-drinking pattern for women. Five is the male pattern. Those lines are a warning, not a serving size. A couple of 24-ounce cans gets there even faster.
An older version of this page ran a Widmark BAC example that spat out “1.4 Twisted Teas” for a 100-pound woman as if that were a drunkness recipe. Widmark estimates are crude, easy to misuse, and still not a reason to drink to 0.08%. Legal driving is 0.08% BAC in most states (0.05% in Utah). If you need the formula to plan a buzz, you need a ride, not a spreadsheet.
Why “it tastes like tea” is the risk
Sugar and cold hide ethanol. People drink Twisted Tea faster than they drink whiskey, and they drink it like hydration on a boat. Caffeine in brewed tea is real and does not sober you up; this fetch did not print an official milligram panel, so we will not invent one. See does Twisted Tea have caffeine.
- Body weight and body water.
- Empty stomach vs a meal.
- Time. Four cans in 40 minutes versus four cans over an afternoon.
- Mixing with liquor. A “Twisted Tea and vodka” is beer-plus-spirits math. Count both. A 12-ounce Original plus a 1.5-ounce vodka shot is two standard drinks in one hand — see vodka shot math.
- Tolerance. Habit can hide impairment; it does not lower BAC.
A 12-pack in a cooler is twelve drinks of Original. An 18-pack is eighteen. That is a party inventory number, not a personal serving size. Keep the cans cold; leftover opened tea goes stale like beer. See how long beer lasts in the fridge.
Tallboys, Extreme, and the 16-ounce can
The 24-ounce Original can is the sleeper. Two tallboys are four standard drinks. Three are six. That is a six-beer night in two extra-large teas, which is easy to do on a boat because the can does not look like “six beers.” Extreme Lemon in a 24-ounce can at 8% is 3.2 standard drinks in one tallboy. Extreme Fruit Punch in a 16-ounce can at 8% is about 2.1. Always read the ounce line and the ABV line together.
Official Original packaging this fetch also lists 5 L and 10 L bag-in-box. Those are keg-style party packs, not a personal serving. At 5% they are on the order of 14 and 28 standard drinks. Split them with a measuring cup if you actually want to know.
Brand flavor names change. Peach, Raspberry, and other core cans have generally stayed at 5% with Original, but a new SKU can land at a different ABV. Light is the one official 4% row we fetched. Extreme is the 8% row. If the can says something else, use the formula, not the flavor name on the cooler door.
