The IBA Old Fashioned is 45 ml whiskey, sugar, and Angostura bitters. The page does not lock bourbon. Rye (— ≥51% rye, new charred oak if “straight rye”) is the spicy default in many US bars. Forty-five milliliters of 40% rye is one NIAAA drink; 45% (90 proof) is 1.13; 50% bottled-in-bond is 1.27. “Best” is rye that still tastes like grain after sugar. This is not a 2022 top-10 tasting.
