ToggleWhat is TX Whiskey?
The brand was first created in 2010 in a humble distillery called Firestone and Robertson in Fort Worth, Texas. Leonard Firestone and Troy Robertson wanted to create a United States whiskey product that could rival famous Scottish, Canadian, and Irish blends, at prices that won’t overwhelm.
In 2013, Firestone and Robertson sold the brand and distillery to Pernod Ricard, the second-biggest producer of wine and spirits in the world. This move aimed to bring more exposure to the brand name while still keeping its core values and preserving its roots.
Some Pernod Ricard brands include Malibu, Chivas Regal, Absolut Vodka, and more.
How It’s Made
This brand offers two different variants: TX Blended Whiskey and TX Straight Bourbon.
The talented craftsmen spent over two years sampling different whiskeys, discovering unique features, and finding out which one was their favorite. They experimented with various selections, brands, and recipes of bourbon and whiskey to create a unique whiskey blend.
This product became the TX Blended Whiskey. By law, they were required to use some form of wooden casks and age the spirit for at least two years. Each batch is bottled at 82 proof.
On the other hand, TX Straight Bourbon is made from distilling yellow dent Texas corn and soft red winter wheat. The distillery also made use of its proprietary strain of yeast that they captured from a Texas pecan, which features the taste of dried fruits and floral notes.
The first batch of TX Straight Bourbon was barreled in ex-sherry American oak casks in 2012, sold in 2016, and bottled at 90 proof.
Each whiskey bottle is also painstakingly handcrafted, using materials like cowboy boot leather and woven canvas. The brand has fairly reasonable prices.

How to Drink It
Whether drunk neat or on the rocks, one of the reasons why TX Blended Whiskey stands out is its complex taste and unique flavor profile. Vanilla takes center stage as soon as you pour some into a glass and take a whiff.
We can’t stop singing praises for the way the TX Blended Whiskey tastes as a sipping bourbon. We greatly enjoyed the taste of honey syrup, creamy butter, and caramelized bananas softly dancing on our tongues.
The bourbon has a finish that’s smooth and warm without any visible burn.
Of course, you’re also free to use this American bourbon in plenty of different cocktail recipes, but sipping it on the rocks was truly a priceless experience.

Comparing TX Whiskey Price With Other Liquors
Craft
There is a huge difference in prices between craft brands and regular brands. That’s because creating craft whiskeys tend to be more manual, from their bottle crafting, to the use of ingredients, and even measuring.
This means that craft distilleries make products that feel more homemade, and you can tell that they put more thought into creating the product just for you.
Other Whiskey
Jack Daniel’s has been around since the late 1800s and is the best-selling spirit in the entire United States. It’s a popular brand name of Tennessee whiskey made with 80 percent corn and aged in oak barrels between four to seven years. In stores, both brands start at roughly $25 in price per 750ml bottle.
Bourbon
The highest selling bourbon brand name in the world, Jim Beam Kentucky Straight Bourbon, has prices starting at $18, which is $10-ish less than TX in stores.
Although Jim Beam is considerably a satisfying bottle of bourbon, the difference in taste between TX Blended Whiskey and Jim Beam is profound.
The brand name also has selections of more “craft-style” bourbons that have similar prices to TX.
