Whiskey is the class. Scotch and bourbon sit in different files. TTB defines whisky and names Scotch as a distinctive product of Scotland. The 2009 Regulations require three years in Scotland and 40%. Bourbon is the US corn type. Glenfiddich 12 US prints 40% / 80. Maker’s Mark prints Proof 90. A 1.5-ounce pour at 40% is one NIAAA drink.
