What’s In An Irish Coffee?

Hand Holding Bottle of Jameson Irish Whiskey

Irish whiskey is the alcohol base of this popular Irish Coffee [1] drink.

The presence of alcohol in the coffee spice up the plain drink, which surely benefits coffee and whiskey loves.

We love using Jameson whiskey for this recipe, including the triple-distilled expression.

But you can use your favorite whiskey and other Irish whiskeys like Paddy, Green Tullamore, and Knappogue Castle.

Coffee

The drink won’t be complete without the coffee, of course.

You can use brewed coffee, hot coffee, French roast, Columbian Java light roast, extra bold roast, Americano, or cold brew.

Sugar

Adding sugar is a great way to balance the flavors to counter the bitterness of the coffee and the whiskey.

You can use brown sugar, muscovado sugar syrup, and granulated sugar.

Tip: You can add or substitute sugar with real maple syrup to make a twist.

Whipped Cream

To achieve the creamy flavor, adding whipped cream will finish up the Irish Coffee.
