Updated March 2026.
Grey Goose Original is distilled once. Official product copy this fetch says “distilled only once” / “a single distillation” and prints 40% alcohol by volume / 80 proof. Soft winter wheat from Picardie; spring water from the Cognac region. We will not print “five times” — that phrase is not on the official pages this fetch. No invented column-still hours. A 1.5 oz pour is one NIAAA drink.

Once, 40/80, France
greygoose.com Original this fetch: “GREY GOOSE® Vodka combines soft winter wheat from Picardie and pure spring water from the Cognac region, distilled only once to let their natural character shine through.” The same tile: “With only two ingredients and a single distillation.” Details block: “Natural spring water and soft winter wheat from France are distilled once.” Alcohol: 40% by volume. Sizes listed: 50 mL through 1.75 L. That is the distillation count on a brand primary. A UK FAQ tile this fetch (“Is more distilled vodka better?”) repeats the lock: they “choose to distill only once” / “single distillation process.”
27 CFR 5.142 is the US vodka class — neutral spirits bottled at not less than 40% ABV. Original sits on that floor. Essences on the same product family this fetch is 30% alc./vol. The ready-to-serve Classic Martini bottle is 35%. Flavored SKUs on that page stay 40% unless the neck says otherwise. Distillation count is process. Proof is the neck.
| SKU | ABV / proof | Distill count this fetch | Class |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grey Goose Original | 40% / 80 | Once / single distillation | 27 CFR 5.142 vodka |
| Classic flavored (La Poire, L’Orange, Le Citron, Berry Rouge) | 40% / 80 | Not a separate count on the tile | Flavored vodka — read the neck |
| Essences | 30% / 60 | Not printed as a second count | Not the 40% Original |
| Classic Martini RTS | 35% | Not a vodka-count tile | Ready-to-serve before ice |
| “Five times” | — | Not on official pages this fetch | Unused. |
What the 2022 URL invented
The recovered 2022 page said “distilled once,” then walked five column names — 92% alcohol, “hydro-selection,” pressure/vacuum oil balance, “demethanolisation” — as if those hours and percentages were a public spec. Official pages this fetch do not print those numbers. Unused. A Canadian process story in search snippets mentions a “5-stage continuous process.” That is stages inside one continuous distillation, not “five times distilled,” and we did not re-fetch that story as a lock this run. Unused as a five-times count.
The old FAQ also priced a 750 mL at “roughly $32,” called it “billionaire vodka,” and compared Tito’s / Absolut / Kirkland as a shop list. Unused as a price list and as a ranking. Leftover comparison pages already exist (Grey Goose vs Absolut); they do not change the once / 40/80 neck.
Kirkland French vodka is a different private-label bottle. Grey Goose’s leftover owner page already notes the brand says it does not produce or private-label Kirkland vodka. This page will not invent that Kirkland is five-times Grey Goose. Read that Kirkland neck if it is in your handKirkland vodka.
What distillation is not
More passes are not a TTB class. 5.142 does not award extra identity for a third or fifth run. “Once” is brand process copy this fetch, not a smoothness ranking. A 750 mL Original is about 17 standard drinks; 1 L about 22.5; 1.75 L about 39.5. Four 80-proof pours are four drinks. That is count, not a crown.
Founder and cellar-master names are history on leftover ownership copy. Owner is Bacardi Limited. Distill count is once. ABV is 40/80. Country is France. If the bottle in your hand is Essences or a flavored SKU, the neck — not a 2022 column lecture — is the ABV.
