Walmart store has long been our go-to destination for everything from groceries to electronics. But one thing that raises questions among consumers, including us, is the availability of alcohol in Walmart stores.

States That Opened Walmart Liquor Stores
In North Dakota, Walmart stores resorted to opening particular retail locations called Walmart Liquor Stores, where residents can legally buy liquor, beer, and wine.
But some states resorted to opening their state-owned liquor shops for complete control over ABV restrictions and the number of liquor shops across the state, which include the following states:

To purchase/buy alcohol at Walmart, you must adhere to the legal drinking age  of your respective state. Typically, you should be at least 21 years old, but it may vary depending on local regulations.
For example, the following states allow buying a bottle of alcohol at Walmart, even if you are 18 years old.

But take note – although you’re in the legal age to buy liquor, you still need to provide identification with a valid government-issued photo as proof.
- In-store, Walmart will decline the sale of alcohol if you can’t present your valid ID.
- For online orders, Walmart will remove alcohol/liquor from your e-cart if you’re not of legal age.
- If you use any self-checkout kiosk, you will be flagged upon scanning your alcohol barcode if you’re underage.
